Doctoral Program (Full Time / Part Time)

Adani University offers graduate programs in multiple disciplines and encourages research at the intersection of disciplines. Engineering sciences, technology, management sciences find confluence in the research and other interdisciplinary initiatives impacting the society.

Adani University offers doctoral research program in the Faculty of Engineering, Sciences & Technology (FEST), Faculty of Sciences (FOS), and Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) with Full & Part time engagement modes. The admissions are scheduled twice a year in July & December. Successful doctoral students shall receive an assistantship during their tenure as scholars at the University, based on their contribution to the academic.

Applications are invited on rolling basis admission throughout the year. The application received from January to May shall be processed in June and the those received from July to November shall be processed in December every year. List of candidates selected for admission to the Ph.D. Program will be intimated through email for research entrance exam and interview process for the forthcoming cycle.

Eligibility Criteria

You shall be eligible for admission to the doctoral program, if you have successfully completed one of following:

  • A 2-year / 4-semester Master’s degree program (after 3 year or 4 year undergraduate degree) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10- point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • A 1-year / 2-semester Master’s degree program, with the same conditions as above with additional course work completion requirements.
  • A 4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 7.5/10 with minimum of 3 years of work experience in respective domain of specialization with the same conditions for foreign students as mentioned with additional course work completion requirements.

A relaxation of 5% marks can be given to candidate belonging to reserve category like SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled persons.

Adani University admits doctoral students through two stage admission process i.e. written examination followed by research presentation. The procedure for the same shall be as follows:

  • Adani University shall admit doctoral students through a National Eligibility Test (NET) or National Entrance Test or any other relevant examination proposed by UGC, or Adani University Research Entrance Test (ARET), as per prevailing norms of the University (Refer university website for examination syllabus). Those students who qualify GATE/NET/GMAT/CSIT(JRF)/other relevant examinations specified by UGC, will be exempted from Entrance Test. It is responsibility of the candidate to submit the relevant proof of the same.
  • After clearance of written examination, a research interview / presentations shall be conducted by a committee of experts appointed by respective head of department under Adani University. The selection shall be evaluated in the ratio 70 (written test): 30 (interview). Minimum of 50% overall marks is required to be eligible for Research Interview / Presentation.
  • Adani University shall declare the results of entrance test and interview within 15 days after completion of research presentation.
  • Ph.D. admissions shall be done in twice a year, i.e. one admission round shall be held in winter session and second admission round shall be held in summer session.
  • Incomplete applications and applications with false information in any respect shall be summarily rejected without any intimation to the candidate.

The minimum coursework requirement for Ph.D. scholars at Adani University is five courses (a minimum of 12 credits), which must be completed within two semesters after the date of registration. For the Ph.D. to be completed, they must meet the minimum credit requirements, which are as follows.

Qualifying defense
A qualifying defense will be held between the 10th and 12th month after the program's start to assess how well Ph.D. scholars performed on their coursework, literature reviews, and problem statements.
Research publications
A Ph.D. scholar shall publish from his/ her thesis a minimum of 3 research papers in peer-reviewed Scopus/ Web of Science/ UGC Care/ SCI/ ABCD indexed refereed journals of international repute or 2 research papers in refereed journals and 1 research paper presented in highly reputed international conferences. He/ she shall produce evidence of the same in the form of an acceptance letter and registration receipt of the publication. Any deviation needs to communicate by the research supervisor in advance to the Adani University Research Committee (ARC) for consideration and approval.

Adani University aims to foster a research culture among faculty by providing financial support for innovative, interdisciplinary research projects and research activities aligned with key focus areas infrastructure, technology, energy, and healthcare.

  • Full-time faculty are eligible to apply for seed grant of up to ₹3L for minor research project. This seed grant aims to support projects that generate societal impact, new technologies, or intellectual property, and ensures efficient use of resources post-research.
  • Faculty shall receive funding support to attend national and international conferences and seminars, filing patents, etc. covering registration fees, travel, accommodation and other such relevant costs as well as legal / secretarial support associated with patents, copyrights and trademarks.
  • The university encourages faculty participation in consultancy, external research projects, capacity building projects, faculty development programmes, and management development programmes, etc. Revenue sharing models for FDP/MDP/Consultancy are in place and financial and secretarial assistance shall be provided for such activities.
